It’s Here: The Ultimate Guide To Mastering The Perfect Spring Look

Hi, it’s me Tokyo to LA Girl. As you’ve probably noticed from daylight savings, Spring is just around the corner, which means time to bring your Spring wardrobe A game!

In this article, you’ll discover a simple 3-step system for creating a perfect Spring Look that is trendy, stylish and versatile which will make you feel like an instant fashionista.

Let’s be real, nobody wants to spend money on getting a whole new wardrobe whenever a new season comes. I was thinking of the best ways to get the perfect Spring Look without spending money on new clothes, but to work with what you already have. I mean, you can always buy new clothes for new seasons but the point is to have versatile clothes that you can use for a long time and not just for one specific season. You can still look cute and trendy for the Spring season by combining pieces you already own.

Solution: I have made a simple change on my wardrobe, which includes all my new clothes as well as new pieces I’ve gotten and that change made all the difference  to make them look more stylish.

In this post, I’ll describe exactly what I did to look trendy and how I put my outfits together for this upcoming Spring and share 3 easy templates you can use to get similar results.

1. Integrate bright colors

The best way to bring out the Spring vibe into your outfits is to integrate bright colors. This could be pastel, neutral, vibrant and other colors as long as they are bright! Although vibrant colors (aka paintbox colors) is this year’s upcoming trend, you can still make a wardrobe statement by wearing cheerful light-colored pieces.

For example, in this outfit, I’m literally wearing a rainbow-color shirt with bright blue jeans and a teddy bear colored jacket. Even my shoes are a bright silver color! By putting bright colors like these together into your outfit it’ll help you look like a well put together fashion blogger who’s ready for the new season.

Tip: I recommend to only put together bright colors such as pastel yellow shirts and light blue colored washed jeans.

Try not to wear something dark like a black t-shirt and dark skinny jeans since it just doesn’t go well with the happy spring vibe. Not only bright cheerful colors will bring you joy, boost energy and mood but they will also help you stand out in the crowd.

2. Have a transitional jacket

Although Spring is not as cold as Winter and not as hot as Summer, a lightweight jacket is the most practical and necessary for the Spring weather. As Spring approaches, you want to include transitional pieces into your closet that are right for the upcoming in-between weather since temperatures can vary from 50-70 during the Spring season.

If you want to wear a jacket that is appropriate for the Spring, I recommend wearing something like what I’m wearing in this picture, a teddy bear jacket. Why a teddy bear jacket? It’s because teddy jackets are not only versatile with its neutral tones which go well with a lot of Spring clothes but they also keep you warm during chilly mornings or late nights.

Even though I don’t think that trendy pieces are something worth investing massively on, I can still suggest something on the affordable side. The teddy jacket I’m wearing is from Zaful and I got it during a sale! To be completely honest with you, I never regretted getting this trendy piece since it was only $20 and I still use it all the time.

If you don’t have a teddy jacket, then an alternative option could be a trench coat, denim jacket, knit cardigan or moto jacket. But remember, as long as your jacket is in a bright color you will still be able to pull off the perfect Spring look.

3. Add a hat or accessories

Finish off your cute spring look by adding a hat or accessories. This little addition to the look can spice up your overall wardrobe.

For example, I’m wearing a fisherman hat to look a little bit more put together. You know, there’s something about a hat that builds on a sense of fullness to your look. It is definitely the ideal statement item to top off your outfit. And guess what? A hat could be a perfect way to cover a bad hair day and still make you look cute and fashionable. It’s a total win-win situation.

Don’t worry, even if you don’t have a hat or you’re just not a hat person, you can still look put together by adding some type of accessory to your outfit. This can be earrings, a necklace or any cute accessory. Accessorizing can be very fun and can make otherwise boring clothes look stunning.

Note: Keep in mind that if you want to add an accessory to complete the look, do not over-accessorize as it can draw excessive attention to one side/part of your body.

The point of putting a hat or accessory is to look complete without overshining the rest of the outfit. The right accessories will improve your overall look and provide the fashion statement you want to express, but if you aren’t careful, you might cheapen your appearance or distract from your cool personality. Thus, choose your a hat or accessory wisely and consider the right one for different situations.
